What is Hyper milling ?

The recent fuel hike had made me think of how our fellow driver could survive in t his situation.

Some politicians here had suggested to the people to change lifestyle and opt to public transport instead.

Well, Kuala Lumpur transportation system is not fully integrated and most of the city folks leaving 40-50 km from the city centre.

In some countries, Malaysia included, the fuel price had jump up to a ridiculous level considering this country is also an oil producer.

Here I go, searching and observing the trend and voila! All of sudden there were so many gadgets and ads in and around the world on alternative fuel.

Things like hybrid, water fuel that convert or separate the O2 and H2 you know, the hydrogen … and whatever ions to provide an … ok… ok… I'm not the expert to explain on the subject of molecular science .

But I will pursue this knowledge and report back to you.

I wonder why all these stuff never surface during our fuel at such a low price. I assume it is just sitting there gathering dusk until someone had to suffer paying the price for fuel .

Ok…that is not the intention of this article to argue on the price of fuel and the alternative gadget in the market even though I would love to become one of the distributor of these fuel saving gadget. Any offer for me ..huh…?

While researching, I stumble upon this word “Hyper milling”. What is exactly this word mean?

Hyper milling ?

The practice of hyper milling started during World War II when fuel rationing; as well as during the American fuel crisis of the 1970s.

At this time the ever popular Reader’s Digest produced fuel saving tips for consumers which are still very popular and are now called as hyper milling.

Hyper milling…is fuel economy-maximizing behaviors (and) techniques that drivers can use to optimize their automobile fuel economy. In a layman term, its means techniques that can be used by drivers to maximize the fuel efficiency of their car

How the fuel in our car could lose without we realize it? The energy in fuel consumed in driving is lost in many ways, including engine inefficiency, aerodynamic drag, rolling friction, and kinetic energy lost to braking .

So, we are talking about driver behavior that can influence all of these fuel consumption

Ready for the tips ? Read on, buddy !

Tips on fuel saving

Drive slowly

~ go as slow as possible, as once you cross the magic limit of 61.16 km/h (38mph), then the gas consumption of your car trebles and you lose about 10% fuel economy.

If you are driving in Malaysia expressway, keep to the extreme left lane.

Drive a manual transmission car / stick shift

~ Drive a stick shift or in Malaysia known as “manual gear” as stick shifts are a difficult to work but they are good fuel savers

Make sure your car has no extra load in the form of back seat trash or any other excess loads as the lighter your car the faster it moves.

Parking Lot

~ Park at the highest spot in the parking lot and face out.

This technique allows you to exit by rolling forward in neutral without turning on the engine, hence saving the fuel.

The technique does away with the backing up and braking required by nose-in parking, while also reducing the time the engine runs.”

Are you having some medical emergency or try to safe the world?

~some people drive as if they were just robbed a bank.

If you press the pedal more then it’s should be, you are using more fuel for your car.

There’s no need for you to speed when you have the time to reach your destination you are just wasting your fuel, money and contribute to air pollution.

It makes good sense to stay under the speed limit as its there for a purpose and you save a lot of money with a speed under 61.16 km/h (38 mph.) And save the environment too.

Ride the ridge

~ As long as there isn’t a safety issue with other cars, you want to drive along the painted white line on the road.

This to increase the fuel economy, a tactic that’s especially useful in the rain when puddles form in the grooves of the road, which significantly increases rolling resistance. Thus consume more fuel.

Take the road less traveled

~ If you have the option of choosing lightly traveled roads over busier ones, you give yourself more flexibility to employ a wider range of fuel saving techniques than if you are surrounded by other vehicles.

You may even find that a somewhat longer, lightly traveled route may result in lower overall amount of fuel used than the shorter, busier route.

I have tried this method and found my car does not consume much fuel and I could enjoy the drive longer with less congested route.

Installing cruise control in your car and coast your car to stops.

~Try installing cruise control in your car and coast your car to stops.

Cruise control is an effective way to save money for your petrol bills as it prevents you from speeding up without you realizing it.

Coasting your car to stops at red light is also very good as you can avoid stepping on brakes which results in a tremendous savings of money and gas. I always love to do this!

The 'corridor effect'

~Have you watched the long distance cycling event? When the cyclist always travel in a pact during initial stage in the expressway.

All else being equal, traveling at a constant speed on a freeway within a flow of traffic (in the same direction) is more efficient than going the same speed in isolation.

Why? It the aerodynamic thing. A flow of traffic generates a localized wind current in the direction of travel. You will benefit from this artificial flow.

Minimize idling when stopped

~ If you're going to be stopped for more than a few seconds, shift to neutral and shut off your engine.

This is one of the main reasons hybrid vehicles get such good fuel economy in urban driving.

Caution # 1: this assumes your vehicle is in good tune and will re-start immediately, every time.

Caution # 2: if you're a defensive driver, you're habitually evaluating the risk of a rear crash when slowing and when stopped. Obviously you will want to leave your engine on in those circumstances (for a quick rear crash avoidance maneuver).

Yes! I’m fully aware of the Malaysia climate.

~Don’t use your air conditioner as it increases fuel consumption by almost 10%.

My suggestion is try to wind down during night driving . Try to “feel” the fresh air while cruising in the expressway.

Clean junk from your trunk

~ The additional weight you carry in your vehicle doesn't ride for free. It takes energy to move it around. Removing unnecessary stuff from your vehicle saves fuel.

Plan your journey.

~this crucial especially if you are vacationing in your home country.Or where else... Malaysia!

~plan route A and route B is better than relying on the roadside signboard.

A good and latest map of Malaysia is very important if you are planning for vacation here... A good map consist of ...

My recommendation for your research on this subject...

Can water be converted into some kind of fuel to your automobile?

In Malaysia, we use to remind people that the car is “not running on water”. This is to say that you should be prudent when driving your car and not to over spend your money on fuel.

We use to joke on using water to power our car. Well that was then, do you know that this is possible ? It is no longer a laughing matter ?

e-book Click Here!

A dream comes true indeed!

While it may be unbelievable to some, the technology now exists to convert any car to a water-burning vehicle.

Water is supplemental to petrol and diesel fuel, which makes it VERY EASY to extract energy from water and run your car on it.

And as a fuel, water is far more efficient than the regular gas you normally put in your car. It is also save for environment!

Considering that with regular fuel you normally use, your cars engine only uses 20% of the energy stored in that expensive fuel.

The other 80% is wasted into heat, pollution (unburned fuel!) and vibration While researching for the answer I stumble upon on this idea and a guide book.

So How To Make Your Car Run On Water?

Well, it's a lot easier than you think. The good news is that you only need a few inexpensive parts (maybe $200 or less worth) and 10 to 30 minutes of your time to install everything.

It's really simple, even if you're not technical savvy, you can still do this, otherwise can just run to your mechanic to do it for you.

What can I said is a small initial investment can save you hundreds (or thousands) of dollars in fuel consumption per year, not to mention save the planet at the same time...

Can you do this yourself, without needing a guide? Maybe “Yes” and maybe “Not”.

But you will need a simple inexpensive guide to know exactly how to do it properly. A good guide will save you LOTS OF TIME AND MONEY! . Click Here!

Why? Because if you use information from the internet and US Patents, you'll have to go through thousands of pages of jargon and diagrams trying to figure everything out.

Not to mention, you'll also have to go through months (or even years) of road testing and backyard tests.

Prepare to waste a lot of money on parts and testing if you want to try doing it yourself. It's simply not worth it.

Another good news is there is a guide online teaching you exactly how to make your car run on water. This author have weeded out the crap and only listed the good quality products that really work. Click Here!

I will say, try to make some comparison with other guide. You may find this is guide is simple to follow for a non technical savvy person like me.

Please DO NOT practice this way of driving !

Over inflate the tires.

~Some people over inflate tires by 15-20 pounds. My main concern is the tires could burst and this is dangerous!

My common sense is inflating them to the maximum rated PSI.

Make sure that your tire pressures are, at minimum, set to manufacturer specifications. The higher the pressure, the less rolling resistance.

Remember that pressure is affected by ambient temperature. As temperature drops, so does your tire pressure, so keep track as the seasons change.

Shutting off the engine

~while the car is still moving especially when it is moving downhill.

It surely can save fuel but if there is an emergency, you are not able to accelerate or slow down which will increase the chance of accident.

Imagine when you are going downhill and there is a point when you need to brake, and you lose control.

Removing outside mirrors

~This is definitely a NO-NO. No matter how do you save on the fuel consumption.

Wind conditions

~You refused to drive on a windy day in expressway or your neighborhood. My suggestion is you should erect a pole and hang a sail mast.

Drive through stop signs.

~It is believed that you use up more fuel when you brake frequently.

However, when it comes to driving on the road, safety is more important than anything else.

If you just drive through the stop signs, you are putting yourself at risk for car accidents not to mention getting caught as it is illegal.

The Conclusion?

I would say saving fuel is something we should do seriously while attemping to find other alternative sources.

Use your good judgment while driving and attempting to save fuel with your hard earned money.

Invest in some good gadget and reading material to gained more knowledge for the future generation.

Do not be “PENNY WISE, POUND FOOLISH and worse thing that come to my mind is you are endanger other road user.

Most of all DO NOT MESS WITH Highway Code, think of your love one and other road user.
